The Empire easily outnumbers the Confederacy in both fighters and cap ships, but unfortunately for them, that is the kind of fight that the Confeds are used to. Their strategy consists of keeping the enemy's cap ships as far away from their own by using their fighters in long range missions. The Confederation relies mostly on their fighters to obtain victory over their enemies.

Well, it wouldn't be the first time Mark Hammill beat down the Empire almost single handedly.ĮDIT: Okay, on a serious note. Which leads to my next point, Confed against the Empire.

If it is than some kind of tear will occure in the fabric of time and space and the world will end. Now, all of this is assuming that it's not Christopher Blair in the Excalibur and Luke Skywalker in the X-Wing. Such a fighter should be able to use that alone to take out an X-Wing, keeping behind it the entire battle. The Excalibur was extremely quick and nimble and could even keep pace with an Arrow in a dog fight, think A-Wing warsies. You have to keep in mind though, that the X-Wing is a multi-purpose fighter, more comparable to the Confederation's Hellcat, and the Excalibur was made to take more of an anti-fighter design enabled to multi only due to it's cloaking devise. That alone will allow the Confed fighter to easily sneak up on the X-Wing and blow it to scrap with it's tachyons alone. Not to mention the more specialised Temblor bomb, which ironically was deployed using an excalibur fighter, though it only worked because the planet had unstable plate tectonics.Īt the OP, no one has mentioned yet that the Excalibur has a cloaking devise built in and the OP doesn't ban its use. The death star can destroy planets, but the Behemoth managed it too. How well would the Confederacy do against the empire? (and the guns are auto-tracking too! so you don't need particularly good aim), and 12 missiles with the option of different types vs 6 proton torpedoes. Given more or less equal levels of firepower for the weapons involved, the Excalibur has 6 guns to an X-wing's 4. Max yaw/pitch/roll: 70/75/70 degrees per secondīut I guess the question comes down to one of firepower really. (I should note, a maximum speed in space doesn't make much sense.) It automatically finds an enemy even if fired blind. The Excalibur has 4 tachyon guns, 2 reaper cannons, and can carry 4 sets of 3 missiles (standard loadout 12 FF missiles.)ĭuration (time to self-destruct): 20 seconds However, power usage for guns is rated in nanojoules! The damage is rated in terms of armor penetration (1/10th centimeter of armor penetration per shot.)
